Jenna McCorkel recently completed an internship with the Itasca Economic Development Corporation. This is what they had to say about the experience.
After a summer full of learning, community connection, and hands-on experience, I’m wrapping up my internship at Itasca Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).
From day one, I was welcomed into a team that truly cares about local businesses, regional growth, and making an impact that lasts. I’m thankful for the chance to contribute, ask questions, and see firsthand what thoughtful economic development looks like in action.
Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to work on real economic development projects, attend community meetings, and contribute to initiatives that directly impact the region. Whether it was helping with research, community outreach, or local business support, each task helped me grow in both skill and confidence.
A huge thank you to the IEDC team for welcoming me, encouraging me, and giving me the space to learn. Your passion for supporting local communities and businesses is inspiring, and I’m proud to have been part of it, even for a short while.
This internship has strengthened my interest in economic development and community impact, and I’m excited to carry that forward as I continue my journey.
