Zach Mitchell completes internship with the Scott County CDA

Posted by MNEDF on August 29, 2018

Zach Mitchell recently completed his internship with the Scott County CDA.  This is what he had to say about the experience:

Interning with the First Stop Shop, within the Economic Development sector, has been an overall great experience. Each week has brought new experiences, from local government meetings, to professional business investment summits. I have experienced a great variety of dialogue and business practices that have been invaluable. As an Economic Development intern, I have been able to witness many of the different aspects that go into community growth and enhancement. Whether it be reaching out to prospective companies for various initiatives or participating in meetings to see how local city officials sustain economic growth, I have seen how far the little things can go. Just showing someone that they are valued and that their work matters in turn elevates productivity and puts a driving force behind the ‘why’ factor. This makes the job not just a means to an end but rather an inspiring experience for all involved.

Being able to learn how business is conducted in a professional environment in addition to putting the skills that I have learned in my college coursework into practice has been a great combination. I am extremely thankful to the Scott County CDA and the First Stop Shop for providing me with this experience. These involvements have helped me better understand my career path as well as become a more well- rounded employee in many surroundings. The skills and expertise that I have gained in my time here will be instrumental in my future profession(s) and I am very grateful for all that I have learned in my time here.
