The Upper Midwest Basic Economic Development Course provides intensive training in the basic concepts, methods and strategies of local economic development. The course is designed for those new to the field, as well as those seeking to deepen their knowledge and skills. A diverse and experienced faculty provide a blend of theory and practice during the five-day course.

COSTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS: $500, includes Introduction to Economic Development, published by International Economic Development Council.
A limited number of scholarships are available for Minnesota economic development professionals through the Minnesota Economic Development Foundation. Apply by February 21 and you will be notified by March 16. Apply here.
It is important to register for the course when you apply for a scholarship. If you do NOT receive a scholarship, and are unable to attend the course, cancel by April 1 to receive a full refund. Scholarship recipients who pay the full registration fee will receive a refund for the scholarship portion of their payment once they have been awarded.
