MNEDF Board Member Tim Clawson received the 2016 EDAM President’s Award from Christie Rock-Hantge at the EDAM Summer Conference this past week in Duluth, Minn.
Clawson has been involved with EDAM for a very long time. He has over 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He has worked in both the planning and economic development professions. He is also a graduate of the Blandin Foundation Community Leadership Program.
Clawson began his career in economic development back in the early 1980s. This person’s first job in economic development was with the City of Luverne as the Economic Development Director. Subsequently, he went to work for the Montevideo Area Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Director and Economic Development Coordinator.
Clawson transitioned to the public sector in 1990, taking a job with Yaggy Colby Associates. After 10 years with Yaggy Colby, he launched his own consulting business. After eight years on his own, he joined the People’s Energy Cooperative as the Manager of Economic Development and Key Accounts. After nearly five years with People’s Energy, Clawson went back to the world of consulting for another two years. Since June of 2015, he has been serving as the executive director of the Faribault County Economic Development Corporation in Blue Earth.
Clawson is a founding board member, past chair and current board member of the Minnesota Economic Development Foundation of Minnesota. Clawson is a past president of both EDAM and the Mid-America Economic Development Council, and also served as co-chair of the EDAM Legislative Committee for many years. Clawson has received the Developer of the Year award from the Minnesota Industrial Development Association in 1988, and the Economic Developer of the Year award from EDAM in 2001.
Clawson holds the following certifications:
- Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC);
- Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (CEDFP) from the National Development Council (NDC); and
- Certified Key Accounts Executive (CKAE) from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
