MNEDF News Summer 2015

Thanks to the leadership of Heidi Pepper, President and the EDAM Board of Directors for awarding $5,000 to the Foundation to support EDAM member professional development scholarships and internships.  EDAM and the Foundation are also now meeting regularly to coordinated professional development and educational efforts.

Nicole FernholzIn partnership with EDAM Emerging Professionals, the Foundation and EDAM awarded Nicole Fernholz, Executive Director, Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission, Alexandria, MN a first time attendee scholarship to the EDAM 2015 Summer Conference including registration and lodging.

 

 

 

The Foundation paid $70 of the $100 registration fee to Hamline University’s Community & Economic Development Symposium held May 1, 2015 to these EDAM members:

Christine Anderson

Christine Anderson, Pennington County Economic Developer was awarded a scholarship for one-half of the registration fee to attend the National Development Council ED202 Real Estate Finance course to be held in Fort Worth, Texas.

 

 

With financial assistance from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the Foundation awarded ten intern scholarships totaling $10,000 to these EDAM members:

Area Partnership for Economic Expansion (APEX)
Barnesville EDA
Itasca Economic Development Corporation
Minnesota Chamber of Commerce
The Northspan Group
Roseville HRA
UMD Center for Economic Development
The Decklan Group
Fridley Housing and Redevelopment Authority

Upcoming MNEDF supported events include:

  • 2015 UMD Basic Economic Development Course July 20-24, 2015 in Duluth.
  • IEDC Entrepreneurial and Small Business Development Strategies, September 10-11, 2015 at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center. Foundation and Greater MSP partial tuition scholarship available.
