Kris Kahler was a recipient of a St. Cloud State University Internship Award.

“I am currently working at Community Action Council of Crow Wing County; (nicknamed Brainerd Community Action) in Brainerd, MN as an intern.  BCA is a fiscal agent for non-profits in Crow Wing County.  In addition to working with the existing non-profits (grant writing, etc), we are in the process of revamping the Purpose/Mission/Vision Statement that reflects what BCA has evolved into; and in the beginning stages of development of a $4 million concept/project. Additionally, Brainerd Community Action is in charge of the 4th of July activities in the Brainerd area. We are in the process of organizing the 2015 4th of July events.

There are so many places I can see myself in the future, but I am finding myself drawn to the non-profit area of economic development; as non-profits could easily be perceived as the backbone of communities. Just as fascinating for me is working with ArcGIS and ArcScene; and I am hoping that my future career incorporates my experience in GIS with any planning career.”
