Katherine Grotte completes internship at Northspan

Posted by Christie on July 21, 2016

Katherine_PictureKatherine’s Statement:

At Northspan I spent 194 hours working a variety of online projects and administrative tasks. I spend the majority of my time preparing documents to be populated into a new regional portal. I was able to work directly with brokers and realtors alike in updating their data. The new website is designed to accept data from spreadsheets, so I ensured all the spreadsheets were prepared and ready for uploading. I participated in a number of meetings where we went through the new site and fact checked the narratives. I also did some miscellaneous administrative activities.

The internship exposed me to the variety of activities involved with community and economic development while giving me practical training on computer programs and how to populate a website.

Most of my time was spent on data and making sure it was correct.

Northspan’s Statement

Katherine Grotte spent a couple months primarily supporting the NorthlandConnection.com team. She worked 194 hours working a variety of online projects particularly preparing documents to be populated into a new regional portal. Most of her internship was spent taking the old website and keeping it current especially the property database, a critical part of the tool. She was able to work directly with brokers and realtors alike in updating their data. The new website is designed to accept data from spreadsheets which she created. Now the staff will be able upload the data into the website more easily. We had a number of meetings where we went through the new site and fact checked the narratives. She also did some miscellaneous administrative activities.

The internship revealed the variety of activities involved with community and economic development. She spent most of her time with data and making sure it was correct and ready to publish.
