“Interning at the City of Roseville has taught me a great deal about economic development at the municipal level. During my time in the city’s Community Development department, I designed and populated a database containing business addresses, industry designation, and business contact person. This experience has taught me the importance of surveying as a method to identify and understand community-level problems before implementing policy and offering business support. I’ve learned that there are various ways to support businesses including a multitude of state and municipal level resources. Additionally, I have come to understand the crucial role of the city council in making economic development decisions within the city. This internship has been a great way to contextualize my academic experiences in graduate school.”
