Abdinasir Ahmed recently completed an internship with Ramsey County. This is what he had to say about the experience:
The internship with Ramsey County Community and Economic Development provided me with insight into a professional setting. More importantly, the internship allowed me the opportunity to be hands on and engage with professionals in my future career path daily. The ability to partake in this internship has been invaluable experience in preparation for a career.
I have acquired insight throughout the internship by being able to cooperate with Community and Economic Development as well as Property Tax Records and Elections Services in various projects incorporating GIS. This internship provided me with the resources necessary to ensure a valuable learning experience through my duration with CED.
Overall the internship was an invaluable experience that provided me with knowledge that I will continue to utilize. My only suggestion on how to further improve the internship structure would be to incorporate some sort of cohort consisting of interns throughout different municipalities, counties, etc…for potential networking opportunities.
